For other uses, see Koval.

Koval was a 23rd century Klingon man, a former member of the Klingon Defense Force who retired to become a miner.

Biography[]

In the 2260s, Koval served aboard the IKS Gr'oth under Captain Koloth. In 2267, after becoming disgusted by the overwhelming presence of tribbles infesting the ship, which he blamed on Captain James T. Kirk, Koval quit the military and went into mining. (TOS comic: "Judgment Day!")

In the 2280s, he worked on Magellan's World, becoming a regular patron of the Star Bar. He was friends with provisional governor Mace Magellan, often brawling and drinking with him. He claimed women were attracted to his eye patch, otherwise he would have a cyber-eye, despite it leaving him vulnerable in personal combat. (TOS comic: "Maggie's World!")

In 2285, he was in the bar bragging about his military service when Federation Mining Manager Alisa Ruthven cozied up to him and slipped a sedative into his drink. She then dragged him atop a building to set him up as an assassin, but it was obvious Koval had been unconscious during the actual shooting. (TOS comic: "Judgment Day!")

Based on his name, he may be related to Klingon Chancellor Koval.
