Kremlat was an inhabited planet, a class M world within the Klingon Empire.
History and specifications[]
Kremlat was claimed by the Klingon Empire, but due to a climate that was hostile to them the Klingons made no serious efforts to colonize the world or exploit its abundant natural resources.
Information about this world was available in anyone's database, and logged in an imperial planetary survey. The atmosphere provided clean, breathable air. Gravity was 97% of Nausicaa normal. (TNG novel: Collateral Damage)
Compared to Earth's 1 G, Nausicaa had a gravity of 0.7 G. (Decipher RPG module: Worlds)
THe surface provided plenty of fresh, potable water, spread over a wide range of climates and ecosystems. Animal and plant life was considered deadly by Federation standards, with the majority of both flora and fauna being hostile. The planetary survey included information on which life was poisonous.
The presence of rare mineral elements, including dilithium, was another asset of Kremlat. (TNG novel: Collateral Damage)
First Splinter timeline[]
In order to resolve issues with continued pirate attacks by the Nausicaans who survived their homeworld's destruction by the Borg, temporary USS Enterprise-E commanding officer Commander Worf used his influence with Chancellor Martok to allow the Nausicaans to settle on Kremlat. Their status was clarified by Worf: the would be neither a client state, nor a subjugated people. Instead, the Nausicaan settlers became imperial subjects, protected under imperial law.
Accepting their offer, the Nausicaan leader Kinogar and his followers established a settlement on the planet in 2387. By February of 2389, the Nausicaans had built the first permanent city of Hayao and were in the process of building a new Temple to the Four Winds on their new homeworld.
