Kring's battle cruiser was a Klingon D7-class battle cruiser starship in service to the Imperial Klingon Defense Force in the late 23rd century.
In 2268, the ship was under the command of Commander Kring. In that year, the cruiser picked up a distress call from the Federation mining colony on Angrena and Kring decided to set a course for the colony, but not to help the Humans, just acquire the tritanium being mined there. Unbeknown to Kring, the USS Enterprise had also responded to the distress call.
Upon arrival in Angrena's star system, the cruiser detected the Enterprise already in orbit of the planet. Not wishing to be drawn into a battle with the Constitution-class starship, Kring hid the cruiser behind Angrena's moon and proceeded to beam down to the planet with a heavily-armed landing party.
On the surface, Kring and Captain James T. Kirk were forced to work together to defeat the Jeru colony which had been responsible for damaging the colony. In a final act of cooperation and against Starfleet directives, Kirk allowed Kring and his landing party to return to the cruiser and to Klingon space. Following the cruiser's return, Kring was put before a tribunal regarding his actions on Agrena and was summarily executed. Following this, Kring's first officer was placed in command of the cruiser.
