Krogan was a male Klingon who held the rank of fleet captain in 2379. He was of the opinion that an empty stomach led to fatigue and slow wits and so did not like to go into battle hungry.

By 2379, he was in command of the IKS veScharg'a and commanded a fleet of sixty Klingon vessels sent to Tezwa after the destruction of a smaller fleet four hours before. The veScharg'a was preparing to begin the attack when the USS Enterprise-E used the Klingon Fleet Command Codes to gain control of the entire Klingon fleet completely shutting down power on the ships. After Captain Jean-Luc Picard claimed the ancient Klingon rite of batyay'a - complete control over a conquered foe - Krogan, the veScharg'a and the rest of the Klingon fleet were guided to the edge of the system and then released from Enterprise control. (TNG novel: A Time to Kill)

During the Borg Invasion of 2381, Krogan and the veScharg'a led a battle fleet to protect the world of Morska from the Borg. Their goal was to avoid Borg counterattack long enough to reach firing range for their new transphasic torpedoes. Their assault was successful, although the IKS Sturka was unable to continue on with the veScharg'a to a rendezvous to intercept a large armada heading for Qo'noS. Krogan considered that it had been sheer luck to protect his ship and not the Sturka, and knew that no one's luck lasted forever. (ST - Destiny novel: Lost Souls)
