Kryptonite was an element, one of the hypersonic series listed in Federation periodic tables by the 24th century. (TNG episode: "Rascals" set artwork)

History and specifics[]

In 1999, a time traveling Spock observed that the regolith of an asteroid he and Q stood upon was composed of aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium, and silicon. Having transposed personalities with Q, however, he then laughed and added kryptonite to the list. Q noted sourly that kryptonite was a fictional element, though Spock replied "if you say so". (ST audiobook: Spock vs. Q: The Sequel)

DC Comics Superman stories – probably mentioning the element from the planet Krypton – were in Manfred de Voop's comic book collection aboard the Amadeus Mozart, as noted in FASA RPG module: Another Piece of the Action.
