Dispensing kurali in juice

Kurali was a drug that was available to the Federation in the 23rd century.

Background[]

Kurali was a physically-addictive narcotic ingested orally in juice form. When taken by humans and humanoids, it produced a euphoric stupor and turned pupils blue. Kurali was not natively occurring, but rather was synthetically manufactured from compounds sourced from several different planets. The Federation outlawed distribution of kurali.

History[]

In 2266, miners led by Pete Flamm addicted local humanoids on an unlogged asteroid to kurali and then exploited them as free labor for a mining operation. After destroying their equipment, a landing party from the USS Enterprise arrested the miners and charged them with illegal distribution of kurali. The criminals were retrieved by the Leonardo.
