Because conclusions regarding this elements properties were advanced years later in the United States, an alternate name "Rutherfordium" (Rf) was adopted. (ST reference: Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual)
- In actuality, this element's initial discovery was in 1966, although the Russian claim on the name was later rescinded and the "kurchtovium" name replaced.
