Kurchatovium (symbol Ku) is a chemical element, atomic number 104 on the periodic table. Because conclusions regarding this element's properties were advanced years later in the United States, an alternate name "Rutherfordium" (Rf) was adopted.

Characteristics and history[]

Kurchatovium, in its most stable form, has an atomic mass of 260. Kurchatovium was discovered by Humans on Earth's European continent for the first time by scientists working in Russia, in the year 1964, although the completion of research on the substance continued in the west, on the North American continent. In actuality, this element's initial discovery was in 1966, although the Russian claim on the name was later rescinded, leading to the name being replaced.
