King Kut was a male ape, the leading sentient Angoman gorilla from the planet Angoma in the 23rd century.

History[]

In the year 2266, King Kut hosted a diplomatic party from the USS Enterprise. After a friendly sword-fighting exhibition in their arena between James T. Kirk and Gif, Kut sat down to dinner with the Starfleet officers. Kut described his people as old soldiers. He sought diplomatic alliances to mitigate threats from warlike races in their region of space. When an Angoman arrived to report that his family had vanished, another in a series of unexplained disappearances, Kut lamented that his people felt frightened and helpless. Kirk volunteered to investigate. Kut led the human visitors to the home where the apes disappeared, and subsequently Kirk's party also disappeared, teleported via a long distance transporter to the Mantis planet. (TOS comic: "Beware the Beast")
