The Kyros system is a binary star system consisting of an M class red star and a red dwarf. It is located within the Organian Treaty Zone of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.
History and specifics[]
The system contains at least one planet, Hephaestus, a resort planet and the homeworld of a race of sentient chimpanzees.
Prior to the 23rd century, an unidentified alien species visited the system and augmented the intelligence of the developing Hephaestans.
By the 23rd century, the popularity of Hephaestus led to a variety of starship traffic in the system.
In the year 2274, the Federation starship USS Enterprise visited the system hoping to sign a dilithium and pergium mining treaty, while the IKS Kluggoth attempted to circumvent the rules of the Organian Peace Treaty and claim the system for the Klingon Empire. The Klingon plot failed, but the treaty succeeded. (TOS comic: "All the Infinite Ways")
