A Kzinti fighter was a type of large fighter starship used by the Kzinti Patriarchy illegally in the 23rd century.
History and specifics[]
In 2259, Kzinti secretly occupied a Bebebebeque colony on Mimit. Now a Kzinti ground base, its engineers were forced to help build a secret space fleet of at least seven Kzinti fighters known as the Mimit Defense Squadron.
These fighters launched vertically from the ground. They were many times the size of a Starfleet shuttlecraft and were armed with particle beam cannons.
In 2274, Kzinti fighters attacked the Federation starship USS Enterprise in orbit of Mimit, and were eventually aided by the Kzinti warship Giant Killer. A particle beam from one of the rear guard fighters struck a SW7-class shuttle containing a landing party from the Enterprise, forcing its crew to eject their warp sled and make a controlled crash landing on Mimit.
One fighter survived the battle, becoming a ship of Kzin exiles that fled toward Free Trader territory. (TOS comic: "The Wristwatch Plantation")
