Dr. L'jian was a 23rd century Human woman from Earth, a noted xenoanthropologist and medical doctor from the Federation's Xenological Research Institute.

Biography[]

L'jian earned a doctorate in anthropology and had a rewarding career. She was short and slender, and was married to anthropsychologist Shorak.

In the early 23rd century, her sister was captured by Klingons at the Battle of Plethak.

In the year 2266, L'jian, Shorak, and Thetas Akunas arrived on Midgwis to assess whether the foraging humanoid Midgwin were sapient. During that time, she appeared healthy but had grown unnaturally thin. She grew familiar with the consciousness web that the Midgwins formed thrice weekly, but she and her husband did not participate.

Not long after the Federation starship USS Enterprise dropped off additional team members, a plague erupted in the nearly Walpuk Warren. Not only did the natives' hive mind fail to prevent deaths, but some of the sick Midgwin were being eaten by hostile licats. L'jian and her teammates accompanied patriarch Kailin Arxoras to the warren to provide whatever aid they could. (TOS novel: Ghost-Walker)
