LCARS, or Library Computer Access and Retrieval System, was a computer software program in use aboard Federation Starfleet starships, space stations and other installations in the 24th century.

LCARS provided user interface to the library computer via physical control interface or with verbal commands. It utilised sophisticated artificial intelligence systems and graphic displays for ease-of-use by a variety of crew. (TNG reference: Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual)
