Lieutenant Labar Tique was a male Rudimonian, a security officer aboard the USS Enterprise in 2268.
Biography[]
His father was an early warp scientist born on Rudimon, who left after first contact but was unable to return when the unified planet collapsed into 70 years of war.
In 2268, Tique considered it an honor to be on the Enterprise’s mission to help rebuild the planet’s infrastructure now that war had ended. Spock met on the surface with Tique, Montgomery Scott, petty officer Harris, and Leonard McCoy for a short briefing. Tique reported a need to implement protocols for distribution and access to medicines. Tique spoke privately with Spock about his father when a forgotten nuclear engine below the city exploded, killing Governor Laisu along with 63 crewmen and injuring 57 other crewmen.
At a security briefing aboard the Enterprise, Tique reported that 19 security officers had died. But nobody had gotten past the security perimeter, so the cause of the detonation was not from a Rudimonian. Spock had Tique tighten the perimeter while Chief Lewter evacuated the rest of the Enterprise crew, so wounded could be taken to the larger medical facilities at Starbase 47.
Ten minutes prior to departure, Spock paid his respects to Laisu, then met with Tique, who led the last remaining security detail. As they spoke, however, Tique was shot through the chest by a sniper, becoming the final casualty of the mission. Spock honored the man’s memory as he lay dead on the transporter platform.
