Lae'nas III was a terrestrial world, an inhabited class M planet located in the Raveh sector and Deferi sector block of the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant. Lae'nas III was the third planet in the Lae'nas star system and the site of a Progenitors colony in cryosleep, the Preserver library. (STO - Cold War mission: "Cold Storage")

History and specifics[]

Billions of years ago, the Progenitor species found themselves alone in the Milky Way galaxy. They seeded various planets with life and directed evolution towards a humanoid shape. A colony and library was established on Lae'nas III. Hundreds of Progenitors entered cryosleep, waking up periodically to experience the civilizations of their "children". Each colonist contained the memory of their entire species. There were enough individuals to maintain the species.

In the 2400s decade, Thot Trel raided the Deferi people to uncover the location of a Progenitor installation in their cultural memory. (STO - Cold War mission: "Cold Comfort")

A star chart, once assembled, directed allies of the Deferi to Lae'nas III in the year 2409. (STO - Cold War mission: "Cold Case")

At the time, the system was controlled by Alpha Jem'Hadar. The Allies defeated the Alphas and Breen in orbit and protected the Preserver library from Trel's forces. When Trel found that the installation was a library instead of holding ancient, powerful weapons, he ordered his vel'sh officers to destroy the facility. The Breen were killed by the Deferi allies.

The Deferi Science Council dispatched a science team to the planet to study the library and learn from awakened Progenitors. (STO - Cold War mission: "Cold Storage")

In the opening shots of the Iconian War, the Iconians travelled to this system. A member of the Iconian Whole derided the awakened Ancient One before killing them. Next, a Iaidon-class dreadnought fired a beam that ravaged the surface where the library had been located. (STO - The Iconian War mission: "Blood of Ancients")
