Laenishul was a sprawling multi-level restaurant, and undersea bistro more than a hundred meters below the surface of Andoria's East La'Vor Sea.
History and specifics[]
In calm weather, the restaurant was accessible from a single turbolift attached to a hovering outpost, which acted as landing site for shuttlecraft and other vehicles. During rougher seasons, the platform retracted and acted as transporter signal relay.
Structure[]
Laenishul was protected from the storm-tossed ocean by a pressurized hemisphere of transparent aluminum. The dome reached 40 meters height at its apex. Visibility and clarity of the surrounding waters was ensured by an external layer of light-amplifying crystal. To improve the view for Laenishul's patrons further, the floors were made of see-through metal. Beneath the restaurant, a chasm yawned which was illuminated from below by bioluminescent algae and other self-illuminating lifeforms. Faintly glowing lights marked passages between the sitting areas, kitchen, back offices and refresher facilities.
Service[]
Because Laenishul was financed in part by the New Imperial Andorian Aquarium, the menu was devoid of seafood, including replicated fare. Responsible for servicing the patrons were the maître d' and servers.
History[]
On 7 January 2386, Doctor Julian Bashir and Security Agent Sarina Douglas dined in Laenishul to grant Ozla Graniv, a reporter for the Trill newsmagazine Seeker, an interview. They were interrupted by Jessala sh'Lero, who wanted to thank Doctor Bashir for resolving the Andorian reproductive crisis. When Bashir noticed the menu was devoid of seafood, he felt a sudden desire for sashimi. (S31 novel: Disavowed)
