Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

The Lamorians were a warp-capable species originating somewhere in the Milky Way Galaxy.

Biology[]

The Lamorians resembled spheres with retractable tentacles that they used to manipulate tools. Their biochemistry was quite different, with chocolate being toxic to them. (VOY - Gateways novel: No Man's Land)

History[]

In 2376, a Lamorian vessel was caught in an Iconian gateway and became stranded with several other vessels in the Delta Quadrant. Lost and bereft of any way to return home, they accepted Captain Kathryn Janeway's offer of Voyager's protection and guidance, joining the multi-species caravan fleet through No Man's Land.

During a cultural exchange on Voyager, one of the Lamorians sampled a piece of chocolate soufflé and was nearly poisoned. Thankfully the Doctor was able to save the Lamorian. Despite the near death of one of their own, the Lamorians remained amiable to Voyager. When the caravan reached a nebula, they were hesitant to enter due to religious reasons. Chakotay managed to persuade them given if he remained on their vessel, with the Lamorians having been impressed by his spiritual insights. (VOY - Gateways novel: No Man's Land)

Culture[]

The Lamorians were described as excruciatingly polite and filled with a love and respect for ritual that bordered on the obsessive.

Nebulae were holy places to them. They never entered them; it was where their gods dwelt.

In Lamorian society, it is the host's duty to never serve anything harmful.

Though they were extremely rigid among themselves about their rituals, they understood that not every species behaved the same way and were quite tolerant. (VOY - Gateways novel: No Man's Land)
