Langely was a 23rd century Human man. He served aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2260s under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.

History[]

Langely considered himself to have sophisticated tastes and often became bored on undeveloped planets.

In 2267, Langely was one of the ship's crew who were granted shore leave on the Winged Dreamers' planet, and were overcome by the presence of a group mind that made fantasies come true through hallucinations. He saw himself in a pleasure palace on Diad II entertained by wine, women, and dancing girls.

When half of the crew failed to return, Spock beamed down and approached a group of the crew who were lounging in a savanna. Langely acted as their spokesman and said they all refused to return to the ship, explaining that everything they ever wanted was on the planet. (TOS - The New Voyages short story: "The Winged Dreamers")
