Klingon Empire

Emblem of the Klingon Empire.

Lantar was Klingon Ambassador to the United Federation of Planets prior to K'mtok. An arrogant man, he claimed he became an ambassador because of his "good manners," which he defined as "the art of pretending one is not superior."

His son, Khor, married a human woman, Esther Silver, in 2376, in the first ever Klingon-Jewish wedding ceremony. (SCE eBooks: Creative Couplings, Book 1, Creative Couplings, Book 2)

He was recalled by Chancellor Martok, son of Urthog in 2379 under pressure from Councillor Kopek; the official reasoning behind the recall was that Lantar had allowed Federation President Min Zife to negotiate directly with Martok rather than going through the Ambassador. Lantar returned to the Klingon Empire via the vaQchargh. (TNG novel: A Time to Heal)
