Lanthanides are a group of chemical elements, also referred to as the lanthanide series.

Characteristics and history[]

These elements are so named because they begin with lanthanum, and comprise a block of elemental entries in the periodic table. This group of elements includes a number of notable heavier materials. The Crystalline Entity left a specific footprint of residue materials when feeding, including lanthanides mixed with bitrium deposits, hydrocarbons, and nitrates. (TNG episode: "Silicon Avatar")
