A Laser scalpel is a piece of medical equipment used to make surgical cuts using laser technology. It is used by many different races.
In 2273, disgraced physician Anton Zauber prepared to conduct an open heart surgical procedure on a Zaranite along with Doctor Christine Chapel. Zauber had assumed the identity and appearance of Leonard McCoy. When his conspiracy was exposed by James T. Kirk, Spock and the real McCoy, Zauber threatened Chapel's life with a laser scalpel.
