Lawlor was a 23rd century Human woman who served Starfleet as an engineer. In the 2280s decade, Lawlor was a trainee, assigned to the Federation starship USS Enterprise-A under the tutelage of chief engineer Captain Montgomery Scott, who was demonstrating to Lawlor how to modify the new Enterprise to match the superior condition of the ship's predecessor in the name.
In the year 2286, Lawlor assisted Scott in the transporter room rescuing the crew of Ace Industries Cargo Vessel 10658, who had been captured by Orion pirates under the command of Makon. When Captain Scott was forced to directly access the transporter power circuits to maintain the beam-out procedure, Lawlor took over the controls. (TOS comic: "What Goes Around...")
