A lawyer is a person educated in the law, and licensed to practice law as an attorney, counselor, or solicitor.

History and specifics[]

By the 22nd century, lawyers had been prohibited on Andoria for a thousand years. (Adventures RPG module: Mission Briefs: Growing Pains)

Romulan lawyers, known as intercessors, served a similar service, including mediating disputes. (Last Unicorn RPG module: The Way of D'era: The Romulan Star Empire)

Samuel T. Cogley was one of the most successful lawyers of the 23rd century, famed for his defense of Captain James T. Kirk against murder charges in 2267. (TOS episode: "Court Martial")
