A lawyer is a person educated in the law, and licensed to practice law as an attorney, counselor, or solicitor.

History and specifics[]

Samuel T. Cogley was one of the most successful lawyers of the 23rd century, famed for his defense of Captain James T. Kirk against murder charges in 2267. (TOS episode: "Court Martial")

On Iotia, lawyers are referred to in the local slang as 'mouthpieces'. Iotian bosses, tired of being burdened with petty disputes, established the legal system after consulting The Book. (TOS - Strange New Worlds V short story: "Legal Action")

Noted civilian lawyers[]
