The Leiber-Kurtzberg Theory was a 21st century theory regarding the existence of life energy.

According to the theory, this type of energy was required on a planet in order for lifeforms to develop and evolve.

History[]

In the 21st century, the theory was debunked by scientists, as it could not be proven.

In 2270, Montgomery Scott disbelieved it. But after the Federation starship USS Enterprise encountered a series of planets depleted of life energy, followed by a massive Hollow Planet starship which devoured such energy, Spock believed they'd proved the theory. (TOS comic: "The Hunger")

The theory was probably named in honor of Stan Leiber and Jack Kurtzberg, a.k.a. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the creators of Galactus, the devourer of life energy seen in Marvel Comics.
