Lemonade was a popular beverage in Human culture, made with the juice of lemons, mixed with water and sugar, and served chilled. It could be carbonated to be a soft drink.

History and specifics[]

William T. Riker enjoyed lemonade, as did Jake Sisko. (TNG episode: "Hide and Q"; DS9 episode: "Move Along Home")

Jake's father, Benjamin Sisko, offered his future wife Jennifer a glass of lemonade when they first met at Gilgo Beach. (DS9 episode & novelization: Emissary; DS9 - Millennium novel: The Fall of Terok Nor)

The crew of the Federation starship USS Voyager were offered lemonade and sugar cookies by the illusory inhabitants of the Caretaker's array in the year 2371. (VOY episode & novelization: Caretaker)

"If life hands you a lemon, make lemonade" was a common Earth saying, urging one to make the best of a bad situation. It was analogous to the Romulan saying "If the sword shatters, take its fragments to a forge." (TOS - Rihannsu novel: The Romulan Way)

Lemonade is notable for it's vibrant yellow color. Nick Keller noted that the strange lighting on the grave ship discovered by Challenger reflected off Savannah Ring's hair as a lemonade color. (CHA - Gateways novel: Chainmail)
