Leola root was a dark yellow root vegetable which was native to the Delta Quadrant. Despite being known for its unpleasant taste, leola root was considered an excellent source of vitamins and minerals.

During a visit to gather food supplies on the planet Napinay in 2371, Neelix discovered a large supply of leola roots which he brought back to the USS Voyager with him, and would go on to use them in many different meals, including leola root stew. (VOY episode: "State of Flux"; VOY short story: "Isabo's Shirt", "Winds of Change")
