A leopard was a type of animal native to Earth, a carnivorous mammal noted for its unique mottling of spots.

History and specifics[]

A resting leopard remained at high alert. (TOS novel: Best Destiny)

In the 2260s, an epidemic on Earth was fatal to leopards and several other wildlife species. In 2267, the USS Enterprise was assigned to retrieve some leopards from other planets in order to repopulate them on Earth. The crew also brought back members of bear, camel, chimpanzee, hippopotamus, parrot, platypus, rhinoceros, tiger, turtle, and zebra species. (TOS - A Book to Color comic: "Third story")

Nyota Uhura once wore a robe adorned with an image of leopards in jungle grass. (TOS novel: Corona)
