Ler'at 3

Ler'at (hologram)

Ler'at of the House of Tignar was an old Klingon warrior on the IKS Tagana under Qua'lon.

In his many years he fought at the Battle of lagon, the Battle of dumath, and the Battle of negan. He killed many men at the Battle of teh, but was injured badly at the Battle of reth.

Qua'lon gave this ship, along with some of his warriors, to Gowron to find the murderer of Torghn, son of Kmpok. The ship's bridge was manned by three of Gowron's warriors, and two of Qua'lon's, such as Ler'at. Gowron with Pok, son of Torghn came to the ship as it was being prepared for launch.

Ler'at stood at the operations station when Qugh, Gowron's operations officer used the formal challenge of station to take his place. Ler'at attempted to act nonchallant, but Qugh said he would not stop me. They growled at each other and Ler'at ignored him, but Qugh grabbed him by the shoulder, spun him away, and knocked him to the floor. With great speed, he stood up, growled and grabbed Qugh but fell again on his back. Defeated, he bowed to Gowron and went to the navigation console.

Soon after Gowron ordered Pok to find a job, and Pok took Qugh's example, challenged Ler'at, who told the "little nothing" to go away turning his back; but Pok defeated Ler'at as Qugh did, obliging him to leave the bridge, and find another station below.

On their way back to Balka, Ler'at entered the empty mess hall and sat next to young Pok ostentatiously ignoring him. Pok then took his plate, making Ler'at to leave without challenging him further, thus ending their "feud".

Soon after, Ler'at accompanied Pok, Gowron, and his two guards T'lak and Ler'at back to bItuHpa bar on Balka in order to get Meska the bartender. Meska was killed and the blood oath was obeyed.

On their way bay to Taganika, Pok wrote a GaTH'k to honor his life. Ler'at was sitting at the mess hall across ChaqI. Seeing Pok approaching him, he expected another challenge; he looked weary, knowing that the challenge ended with his defeat. Pok silently tossed him a writing PADD. He saw that it was an ode to his life, he dropped it and sat staring at it when Gowron and Pok returned to the table. ChaqI was curious about what it said, but Ler'at, believing old superstitions against speaking proudly about oneself, said with a soft voice that he couldn't read it aloud himself. Gowron took the pad and read Pok's GaTH'k aloud for everyone to hear.

Everyone fell silent in respect. Ler'at stood up, blessed Pok with a wish to die in battle with honor, and left with the pad. (TNG novelization: Klingon)

In Star Trek: Klingon, the hologram of Ler'at is played by actor J.G. Hertzler.
