Biography[]

Johnson liked to talk to Benny Russell when Russell was being treated there and would read Benny's Benjamin Sisko stories. When Russell stopped writing, Johnson convinced him to return to his Sisko stories as their positive depiction of African-Americans offered hope and were needed due to current atrocities, like children like Emmett Till being murdered and African-American churches being burned. Johnson had being retelling Benny's stories to his children. (DS9 - Strange New Worlds 2016 short story: "The Dreamer and the Dream")
