Levinius V was a planet located somewhere in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, the fifth planet in orbit of the Levinius star system.
History and specifics[]
It appeared green and blue from orbit, with several oceans and continents, and had a breathable atmosphere. The surface featured rugged, mountainous terrain. (TOS comic: "A Small Matter of Faith")
Sometime between reference stardate 2025 and reference stardate 2050 in the 21st century, the population of Levinius V experienced an outbreak of mass insanity that destroyed the world's civilization. (TOS reference: Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual, FASA RPG module: Star Trek III Sourcebook Update)
In the year 2267, the crew of the Federation starship USS Enterprise concluded that the outbreak was caused by blastoneurons, a type of neural parasite. (TOS episode & Star Trek 2 novelization: Operation -- Annihilate!; TOS - Operation: Annihilate comic: "Part 1")
In the 23rd century, Federation citizens lived on Lavinius V in domed cities. Relics of the lost native civilization, as well as leftover technology, remained on the surface, including a stasis beam weapon capable of entrapping a starship.
In 2267, the Enterprise orbited Lavinius V in response to a priority one distress call from the Starfleet Veterans' Hospital. The call was part of a scheme, however, so that the zealot En-Lai could commandeer the ship for a trip to Calydon. (TOS comic: "A Small Matter of Faith")
In 2371, a science team from Levinius V left their homeworld to visit Starbase Deep Space 9 in preparation for a tour of the Gamma Quadrant led by Jadzia Dax. (DS9 - The Maquis: Soldier of Peace - Issue 1 comic: "Vacation's Over")
