In the mirror universe, Lewis Zimmerman (2320-2371) was a Terran scientist in the service of the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance during the late 24th century. He was engaged to develop a telepath and was assigned to Monor Base above Ardana. B'Elanna, the Supervisor of Ardana, despised him because of his obnoxious attitude and his effrontery when addressing her but could not kill him due to his value to the Alliance.

In 2371, Kes, a young Ocampa female who became trapped in the Alpha Quadrant after a brief encounter with the Caretaker, was sent to be experimented upon by him. Using his own version of a Klingon mind sifter, he accessed her memories while she was still unconscious and learned not only her name and species but her entire life history. After she had regained consciousness, he proceeded to torture her with the mind sifter to determine her pain threshold.

During this time, he conspired with B'Elanna's favourite slave Thomas to escape from Monor Base and sell Kes to the highest bidder. Recognising an opportunity to enact his plan when the recently captured Terran rebels Chakotay, Tuvok and Harry Kim escaped from their cells, he attempted to take B'Elanna hostage. However, once Thomas had revealed his role in the conspiracy, B'Elanna killed her former favourite by plunging her d'k'tagh into his left eye. She was almost immediately rendered unconscious by Tuvok using the Vulcan nerve pinch. After a brief altercation with the Vulcan, Zimmerman was himself rendered unconscious after being struck with numerous pieces of machinery from his laboratory, which Kes was able to move using her telekenetic powers. After regaining consciousness, B'Elanna killed him by stabbing him in the back of the neck with her d'k'tagh before proceeding to mutilate his corpse.
