The Liberty-class was a type of United Earth starship, a picket cruiser in Starfleet service in the 22nd century. The Liberty vessels were intended to serve only as sub-light engine picket craft, and around the beginning of the Earth-Romulan War, they were withdrawn from deep space service and were re-purposed as star system defense craft. (FASA RPG module: The Romulan War)
- The source material specifies Federation allegiance for all allied vessels in the Romulan War, but later canon contradicts this in stating that this was prior to the Federation founding. In accordance with the canon version, these vessels are referred to as Coalition of Planets allies for the purposes of this wiki.
