Life support is a critical system of technology used by civilizations that travel in pace or on any part of their homeworld where the habitat differs from their lifeform requirements. On starships and space station facilities, the term covers the control of most environmental factors in such locations, including atmospheric gas makeup and pressure, temperature and artificial gravity.[citation needed]
