A lifeform is simply any living entity or organism. The study of lifeforms is referred to as biology, and the study of alien lifeforms is categorized as xenobiology and xenology.

Sensors and tricorders are primary instruments which are used by various space fleets to detect and locate lifeforms by identifying blood type, heart rate, and metabolic setup.
