For other uses, see Lion.

The Lion was an experimental ship, modified from a Starfleet shuttlecraft by Joshua Bat-Levi as a testbed for a new engine powered by vacuum energy. Bat-Levi and his sister, Darya Bat-Levi, were pilots for the Lion's first test flight in 2326, originating at Starbase 32. Though the Lion succeeded in traveling 12.57 parsecs from the starbase, it was crippled by an uncontrolled energy build-up. The Bat-Levis were able to maneuver back to Starbase 32, but shortly after, the Lion exploded, killing Joshua and severely injuring Darya. (ST - The Lost Era novel: Well of Souls)
