Loom Aleek-Om was an Aurelian who served as a Federation historian in the 23rd and 24th centuries. (FASA RPG module: The Four Years War; DTI novel: Watching the Clock)

Aleek-om had a tattoo on his beak, a small detailed drawing of a scroll. It was an Aurelian symbol of adulthood. (TAS - Log One novelization: Yesteryear)

Biography[]

Aleek-Om began his studies in the 2210s, eventually becoming an accomplished historical scholar and one of the Federation's most prominent historians.

In the 2260s, Doctor Aleek-Om was the Professor of Ancient History at the Institute of Galactic History in New Samarkand, Alpha Centauri III, where he used to fly to work. (DTI novel: Forgotten History)

In 2269, Aleek-Om accompanied Meijan Grey, a fellow historian, on a research mission to the planet Gateway. Using the Guardian of Forever, the two historians were able to gain fascinating data on the early history of Orion, and the recent history of Vulcan. (TAS episode & Log One novelization: Yesteryear; TOS - Crucible novel: The Fire and the Rose; DTI novel: Forgotten History)

By 2382, he was the Federation Department of Temporal Investigations' senior historian. (DTI novel: Watching the Clock)

In the Aurelian year 33092 (somewhere between 2267 & 2311 Earth time), a book written by Aleek-Om was published, titled Changing Spots: Klingons in the 23rd Century. (ST reference: Federation: The First 150 Years)

Another book of he penned was History of Orion. (ST video game: Timelines July 2019 event: "On the Backs of Giants")

In some publications, no hyphen is used between "Aleek" and "Om" in the name.

Alternate timelines[]

In an alternate timeline beset by the temporal anomaly crisis, Aleek-Om was pulled into the late 24th century. Around the year 2380, different timelines were interwoven, and Aleek-Om joined Starfleet to help Q resolve the temporal anomaly crisis. Loom's skills qualified him as an innovator. He was also skilled in the fields of diplomacy, science and medicine. Among the equipment he brought to bear in missions were his tricorder, a communicator, and the History of Orion book.
