Luddites were a movement of the planet Earth's Human civilization that dismissed modern technology.

History and spcifics[]

In 2228 Luddite left Earth to settle on Elysium. They deemed Earth had become too tame. The Luddites of this time shunned transporters and aircars and used devices called cell phones instead of comm units. (TOS novel: Burning Dreams)

Around the 2250s decade, a large settlement of Luddites based in Mojave, California decided to resettle on Kelfour VI. During the Federation-Klingon War of 2256-2257 all those who resettled were killed by a Klingon hypothermic charges. (SNW novel: The High Country; DSC episode: "The War Without, The War Within")
