Luke was a male Human archaeologist in the 23rd century, and was the husband of Mai Duyen Trinh.
Sometime prior to 2270, he had an accident at an archaeological site on New Dakar, which left him comatose until his eventual death six months later. Trinh recalled the pain of keeping vigil for him; it was her reasoning for breaking off with Hikaru Sulu after she suffered an accident that left her partially paralyzed and dying. (TOS novel: Allegiance in Exile)
