Lyrinda Halk was a female Human Starfleet officer in the 24th century.

Biography[]

She was born and raised in Valdez, Alaska, until her father was killed in a fission plant accident. In Valdez, she was childhood friends with William T. Riker.

She attended Starfleet Academy at the same time as Riker, in part to gain his respect. While there, she was on a training mission with Riker, charged with rescuing the USS Caspian from an asteroid field. Though Riker was in command of the mission, Halk took it upon herself to beam over to the derelict ship and personally pilot it out of danger.

Halk graduated from the Academy with honors, and as an ensign, served with distinction aboard the USS Trieste. By the early 2360s, Halk was assigned to the USS Fearless. During a shore leave, she reunited with Riker, and confessed her love for him. However, both realized they could not have a relationship without sacrificing their careers.

By 2367, Halk reached the rank of Captain, and was commanding officer of the USS Marco Polo. That year, her vessel was attacked near Beta Marada and crippled by unknown ships, suspected of being of Darzun origin. Their distress call was answered by the USS Enterprise-D, and Halk given to the care of Doctor Beverly Crusher. After the Marco Polo was saved, Lyrinda was visited by Riker, who gave her a flower. (TNG comic: "Thin Ice")
