Mab-Bu VI was a planet located somewhere in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, the sixth planet in orbit of the Mab-Bu star system. Mab-Bu VI was a giant, gaseous planet located in or near Federation space, and had a class M moon that was recorded to be uninhabited. The Starfleet starship Essex was destroyed above the moon in the year 2167 by Ux-Mal criminals who were imprisoned on the moon. These same criminals in 2368 attempted to escape by commandeering the USS Enterprise-D and taking over Chief Miles O'Brien, Counselor Deanna Troi and Lieutenant Commander Data.
