Macedon III was a planet, the third planet of the Macedon system, located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants. It was the homeworld of the Empire of Thrace and a favored shore leave destination for members of Starfleet.
History and specifics[]
Macedon III was renowned for its plume dancers, thieves market, as well as its various landmarks and tourist spots. Its climate was generally warm, at least in its capital city of New Athens.
The planet was settled in the 21st century by ethnic Earth colonists who landed in sleeper ships and intermingled with the indigenous population of Thracians. Despite adopting Greek naming for various landmarks, architecture constructed with smooth stones reflected Thracian and Arabian influences, and statues were generally abstract.
In the 2270s, Macedon III was on good terms with both the Federation and Klingon Empire.
In 2277, the starship USS Enterprise orbited Macedon III for shore leave. While sight-seeing, Nyota Uhura and Prince Jaral Stephanopoulos were kidnapped by rebel Traasmeen, but they managed to escape. (TOS - Star Trek II Short Stories short story: "Under Twin Moons")
- The world was presumably named for Macedon, an old Earth kingdom in Greece ruled by Alexander the Great.
