Maelstrom class

The Maelstrom-class was a type of Federation starship in Starfleet service, a 25th century escort subclass based on the Dervish-class design. (ST video game: Star Trek Online)

Service History[]

The Maelstrom-class design was an upgrade based on the successful Hermes-class subclass of the existing Dervish-class hull. The ship shared it's name and registry with the prototype of the Hermes class, the USS Hermes. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Since 2409, a depiction of the Hermes- was used to represent the Maelstrom class in the ship selection screen of Starfleet's shipyards across the Milky Way Galaxy. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
