Lieutenant Maggie Thompson was a female Human Starfleet officer who served as science officer aboard the USS Enterprise-B in 2294.
As a child her father used to sing her a song entitled, "Bushel and a Peck", at night in order to get her to sleep. At such a young age she believed that her father had invented the song. She was later disappointed when, a few years later, that the song was from an old Earth musical entitled, Guys and Dolls. In 2294, she related this story to her friend and shipmate, Ensign Demora Sulu, when Sulu told her a similar story involving her father, Hikaru.
A short time later, Thompson accompanied Captain John Harriman's landing party to the surface of Askalon V after receiving a distress call. It was during this mission that Ensign Sulu was "killed" by Captain Harriman after she attacked both Thompson and the captain. (TOS novel: The Captain's Daughter)
