Mahásë was an Eseriat, a Federation Starfleet officer.
Biography[]
In the 23rd century, Mahásë held the rank of lieutenant and served on the starship USS Enterprise as a stand-in communications officer.
He is described as having craggy features, gray skin, gray hair, and gray eyes (even to the whites), and speaking with a slow drawl.
In the year 2268, Mahásë was working the night shift on the bridge when Captain James T. Kirk called and ordered the ship to reverse course from Starbase 9 back to Midgwis. Kirk also asked Mahásë to notify the starbase of the course change. Mahásë additionally alerted the crew to an intruder aboard the ship. When Nyota Uhura heard the alert, she recalled Mahásë having parodied such intruder alerts in the recreation room. (TOS novel: Ghost-Walker)

Background[]
In Crossroad, it's indicated that Mahase is female. While this could be an example of a changed premise, it is also possible it is the result of this species having variable gender.
