Mahavira was a Human man, a religious leader who lived in the 6th century B.C. on Earth.

Biography[]

In the 6th century B.C., pacifist Mahavira founded the faith of Jainism, a branch of Hinduism which codified five general types of life which included some inorganic substances such as clay and fog. Mahavira taught that people should take significant steps to avoid causing inadvertent harm to living beings, and he believed in reincarnation.

Legacy[]

His faith survived at least into the 23rd century. Commander Spock was familiar with the practices of the faith. The famous senso-artist Gilla Dupree followed the teachings of Mahavira, including wearing a surgical mask in public to avoid potentially contaminating others. (TOS novel: Devil World)
