Ensign Malak was a Trill man who served aboard the USS Enterprise-E in 2379. He was a junior officer in the top tenth percentile on his evaluation reports. After the Rashanar incident, Malak requested a transfer off the ship, but changed his mind and decided to remain on board. (TNG novels: A Time to Love, A Time for War, A Time for Peace)
