USS Enterprise above Malur.

Malur was a class M planet in the Malurian star system, Beta Quadrant. The planet was the homeworld of the Malurian species. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: Tower of Babel)

The Malurians were a generally planet-bound species because their massive females eschewed travelling off-world and the males were bonded with them. However, the Malurians established colonies on the other planets in the system. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novels: A Choice of Futures, Tower of Babel)

In the 22nd century, the Raldul alignment was ostracized because of its extensive travels, and became embroiled in criminal activity to cope. Dular Garos, leader of the alignment, rejected the possibility of Malur joining the Federation to solve its problems. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: Tower of Babel)

In 2267, the population in the Malurian system numbered four billion. In that year, the rogue probe Nomad sterilized the system, killing the Malurians. (TOS episode: "The Changeling")
