See Lund for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.

Manuel Lund was a 23rd century Human man. He was Earth's foremost oceanographer and served aboard the FOMP Onizuka in the 2280s.

Biography[]

Lund was a short, athletic introvert with wide-set eyes who kept his beard trimmed neatly. He tended to become irritated at those who disagreed with his scientific findings and could be quite opinionated.

Lund attended the University of California, Los Angeles and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, earning a PhD. in oceanographic engineering. Over the next 20 years, his studies made him a renowned expert in the field. He was considered an expert in mathematics and an authority on life support systems technology, mechanical engineering and aquatic vehicle operations. He was an adept marksman and swimmer, and had been trained in armed combat. He also spoke Galacta and the Tellarite language.

In 2286, he accepted Starfleet's invitation to join Project Nursery as chief of ocean sciences. Although humpback whales were outside of his engineering training, his knowledge of Earth's oceans was incomparable. Lund did not think highly of the project's zealous chief of life sciences Margaret deSilva. Geologist Luther Birnbach considered Lund to be a "stuffed shirt".
