Mara was a Klingon woman who lived during the 23rd century. She was the wife of Captain Kang, and also served side-by-side with him, as science officer. (TOS episode & Star Trek 11 novelization: Day of the Dove)

Biography[]
While Kang often acted impulsively, Mara took it upon herself to be a calming influence, forcing him to pause and think through his actions.
In 2291, when Kang needed to extract information from renegade Klingon Captain Klaa, Mara proposed that Spock, who had been charged to investigate overtures of cooperation between the Federation and the Klingons, engage in a mind meld with him.
During this time, both she and her husband were given a cure to the augment disease by Antaak's grandson Hurghom, which finally cured Kang, Mara, and many other Klingons who had been resistant to the earlier cure. This new cure restored their standard Klingon physiology.
That same year, Mara became pregnant with her and Kang's first child. She later gave birth to a son, who was named DaqS after her husband's friend Curzon Dax. Several years later, DaqS was murdered by the Albino.
Following those events, both she and Kang resigned from the defense force, though Kang took missions aboard the IKS K'Tanco. Both she and Kang spent their time on Kang's estate near Kopp's Cliff on Qo'Nos.
