Marar Ferat was a 23rd century Cygnian woman with curly hair. In the late 2270s she was a Starfleet Academy cadet, and served as a trainee communications officer aboard the USS Enterprise under Captain Spock in 2279.

Biography[]

In 2279, Cadet Ferat manned the communications station during the Enterprise's special mission to rendezvous with the USS Asimov in connection with spontaneous eruptions of vacuum flares threatening Federation worlds. On the second day of the voyage, Ferat announced Captain Spock's presence on the bridge, and Spock explained why the ritual was unnecessary. Later, when the ship returned to the Sol system and dropped out of warp near the Sol asteroid belt, Ferat noted that she was unable to contact Starfleet Command even from this close range due to vacuum flare activity. As the ship entered the flare field, Lieutenant Kwan was hit by a micro wormhole, and Ferat sent a medical team to assist. She detected Clark Terrell's short-range laser-pulse hails from the USS Reliant directly ahead, and quickly reconfigured her station to accommodate the transmission type. (TOS novel: Living Memory)
